Ross Droplet Technique; a Complicated Name for a Simple Hack
You’ve probably noticed that grinding coffee is messy. Fresh coffee and static are the culprits, and since fresh coffee is non-negotiable, let’s tackle static!
RDT
The Ross Droplet Technique is simply adding a small amount of water from a fine mist spray bottle to your dose of coffee before grinding. This reduces static which leads to less retention in your grinder and less grounds flying around when the grinder is running. It’s good for your machine and your sanity.
WHAT TYPE OF SPRAY BOTTLE SHOULD I USE?
You don’t want to soak the beans, so a fine-mist spray bottle is perfect. We also recommend a small bottle since it will take a long time to use all the water (and you don’t want to spray your coffee with nasty water!). Obviously you could use a large bottle and simply not fill it full.
If you’re a Florin fan, we have a glass 2oz. Fine Mist Spray Bottle that will do the trick and look good on your countertop.
Whatever spray bottle you choose, we hope this hack helps you Enjoy the Ritual!
